Rizzle Kicks are a British hip hop duo from Brighton, consisting of Jordan “Rizzle” Stephens (born 25 January 1992), and Harley “Sylvester” Alexander-Sule (born 23 November 1991). Their debut album, Stereo Typical, was released on 31 October 2011.
Jordan Stephens and Harley Alexander-Sule were born in North London and were family friends from the age of 4. They lost contact over the years and both moved to Brighton independently of each other. Through a series of coincidences the pair were reunited at the age of 11 when they faced each other head-on in a Sunday league football match. They ended up going to the same college, the Brit School where Jordan studied Media and Harley studied Theatre. Jordan was in the process of making his mixtape “Minor Breaches of Discipline” where he rapped over samples of some of their favourite artists (Gorillaz, Lily Allen, Arctic Monkeys etc) and asked Harley to sing over some of the tracks. They realised how nicely their styles fitted together and formed Rizzle Kicks in 2008.
Their debut album Stereo Typical was released a week later on 31 October 2011 peaking at #9 and was certified Gold in December 2011. Their third single Mama Do the Hump (produced by Norman Cook) was released on 16th December peaking at #5. The lo-fi video features a cameo from James Corden.
